A judge on Friday denied the temporary release of the Dominican man who was shot this month by a federal immigration officer in New York, ruling that he was in stable condition and receiving “appropriate” medical care at a federal jail in Brooklyn.

The man, Oscar Belgal, has been in custody since being shot and injured on Oct. 8, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents apprehended him while he was in a car with his 5-year-old son.

All living Americans will spend the rest of our lives having to explain what we were doing during this morally depraved history.

I joined the DSA and have been learning to organize and canvas despite my introversion and social anxiety. If a depressed autistic person can do that, most people can at least do something. There really isn’t much of an excuse at this point.

If DSA isn’t someone’s thing, there are plenty of other groups that would be happy to have the help. We need all types, and no matter one’s skill set there is something they can contribute.
