The mass disenrollment of 760,000 people from Affordable Care Act plans is the latest bipartisan assault on healthcare that aims to drive millions of workers and their families deeper into poverty.

Healthcare is a social right, not a privilege to be rationed by corporate insurers and canceled by government fiat. The fight against the assault on social programs cannot be separated from the fight against the capitalist profit system.

    Oz told reporters that 35 percent of people in the system “never used the program,” having never seen a doctor or filled a prescription. Reasoning that people who haven’t used their health insurance will never need it is the logic of someone who has never worried about a medical emergency that could spell bankruptcy overnight.

    I’m sure that you’ll be waiving the coverage mandates attached to the taxes for all those you dumped too

      My brain hurts. He literally described how insurance works. You don’t get car insurance cause you plan to use it.

        About two years ago all the ACA plans basically became shit and were worthless for routine stuff.

        However, I did get several years out of Obamacare and had access to the best insurance of my life on their mid tier plans.

        It was a nice couple of years, but employers got used to it and offer even worse plans.

        It’s all to cut costs at the expense of the lower classes, shifting wealth and power to the greedy assholes already at the top. That’s it. It’s never been anything more than that.

      Are you talking about the ACA mandate that Americans have to carry health insurance, and there would be a monetary penalty if an individual didn’t (aka “the Individual Mandate”)? That mandate was set to a $0 penalty in 7 years ago 2019. Or are you talking about something else?

        Hadn’t recalled it being changed, but given his hate of the ACA and anything related to Obama I’m sure he’ll find some way to punish people for either staying on it or being thrown off.

          You’re not wrong. In 2021, trump and GOP tried to say since the Individual Mandate was made $0 that the entire ACA needed to be thrown out. The Supreme Court of that day told trump to pound sand, so the ACA survived another GOP challenge.

      I’m sure this is less about their indifference to what this means for those enrollees, and more about finding ways to cripple the ACA so they can justify killing it altogether.
