Mr. Vang was around 18 when he first began abusing the girl, who was then 10 years old.
And he got 30 years’ probation instead of prison. I’m struggling to imagine what kind of child sexual abuse gets you that sentence and a pardon, even if you’ve been on your best behavior ever since.

Republicans use any perceived misstep as an excuse to demonize the left, so shifting policy rightward to compensate is just playing into their hands.
While his crime was horrible, the fact that he came to the U.S. as a child should result in a punishment comparable to that of a natural-born U.S. citizen. Republicans elected a rapist to the presidency, so they certainly don’t have a leg to stand on in this matter.
