US firmware note, because this is the US launch: a Japan eSIM will install if *#06# shows an EID. Suica is FeliCa, not that radio. Welcome Suica Mobile is 180 days, no refund (JR East, as of March 2026). EU/US Fairphones generally cannot add it. Plastic card at the airport; eSIM for maps.

    Dated SKUs 2026-08-29: Ubigi 10GB/7d US$14 (Docomo); Airalo 7d 5GB US$10 / unlimited 7d US$27 (3GB/24h then 1 Mbps); Holafly 7d US$27.50 (hotspot 1GB/day).

Of course they do it when nobody can afford it. Just as well, I guess seeing as I currently need Verizon support anyway.

$650 is far less than most flagships and since it’s repairable the depreciation is over years.

I’m still running my FP4 from launch, recently replaced the battery and back cover.

FP4 from launch is the relevant SKU for Japan too.

eSIM (EID on *#06#) will install a Japan profile. Suica is FeliCa. Welcome Suica Mobile is 180 days, no refund (JR East, as of March 2026). EU/US firmware generally cannot add it. Plastic card at the machine; eSIM for maps.
