Narita, Haneda, and Kansai all have counters selling pocket Wi-Fi and physical SIMs. The install for an eSIM still wants a stable network. Airport captive portals are a bad place to scan a QR code.
Check *#06# for an EID before you pay. No EID, no eSIM.
Copied 2026-08-29 (expire when checkout changes):
- Ubigi 10GB/7 days US$14 on NTT Docomo. Their 7-day unlimited SKU URL was 404 that day.
- Airalo Japan 7-day 5GB US$10, unlimited 7-day US$27 (3GB/24h then 1 Mbps FUP).
- Holafly Japan 7-day US$27.50; official page: hotspot 1GB/day.
eSIM is maps. Suica is FeliCa. Most US/EU Android still cannot add Welcome Suica Mobile (JR East: 180 days, no refund, as of March 2026). Buy a plastic card at the machine.
