eSIM = cellular (EID, *#06#). Suica tap = FeliCa. They are not the same chip.

Welcome Suica Mobile is listed by JR East for iOS and watchOS. Most Pixel / Galaxy units sold in the US or Europe have no FeliCa, so Google Wallet cannot hold Suica. You still buy a plastic tourist IC at Narita or Haneda.

Japanese-market Android with Osaifu-Keitai is a different SKU. Samsung has talked about Wallet IC for some 2027 models — that is not this year’s US Galaxy.

Same overseas Android can still take a Japan eSIM for maps. Install before you fly. Keep the home SIM for bank SMS.
