Nobody ever talks about it but the requirements to get SNAP is so ridiculously low because the federal min wage did not keep up with reality.
In places where the min hourly wage is like $15, you end up making too much to qualify for the full benefits SNAP, even if 90% of your income goes to rent/healthcare.
So you’re in this weird loop where you have to work LESS.
I remember when I started at UPS back in 2015, starting wage was $11/hr, hours were capped at 25/week, and as part of the onboarding HR would show you how to sign up for SNAP.
Wasn’t there a big to-do over Walmart pointing all of their employees at government assistance, too?
Yep! Its a shame too, because workers treat it like “Yeah that’s just how it is.”
It’s so sad and frustrating trying to explain unions and a reality that actually can take care of them.
Poverty glass ceiling. Most benefits cut off far before they’re no longer needed. Causing those using them to be forced to work less in order to keep qualifying.
Correction:
Corpo Dems hate the social safety net and love when they can gut it.
Republicans rape babies and can’t cum unless they see at least 10k brown people die a day.
Neither want to see SNAP benefits higher.
Vote for progressives.
They want it but they will not vote for it.
They voted for this.
This is the result of the big beautiful bill.
Oh, right, that bill, LOL. I got so sick of seeing Mikey Johnson and other gaslighting trolls hyping that through gigantic grins.
Acting like they were really doing something for anyone but the Epstein Class.
If this is what they wanted, why pass the Big Bullshit Bill?
no, force employers to pay liveable wages. don’t subsidise corporates with tax payer’s money
But the capital class… They don’t care
