And not to be rude but I’m not looking for everyone’s speculations as to why. I’m curious if there’s anyone with firm knowledge about their motivations, either because they know someone who does it or because they do it themselves.
I have a couple friends that upper decked toilets because they thought it was funny as teenagers, luckily both grew up to be good people.
I would end any association on a revelation like this.
Back in the early days of YouTube there was a dude called the yellow pee.pee monster and he would go in and just hose down an entire public bathroom in places like barnes and noble or taco bell. He had at least 7 or 8 videos like this. I wouldn’t say it was entertaining per say but it was a fascinating character study.

I’m as surprised as you are, I was expecting to find an encyclopedia dramatica entry or something when I googled it. Maybe it was him.
We had someone at our office who took a large dump right in the middle of a closed toilet lid, and just left it there for someone else to deal with. It’s not even a shared or public access building, we’re the only company there, like 40 people on that floor at max.
Three times in a few months.
I left before they managed to catch him, because it took that long. Don’t know how why he did it, but I still can’t wrap my head over it. Because from what I’ve heard, it was not an intentional “I want to get fired, fuck all of you”, but he claimed accidents?

Malice is still a possibility, though. He was getting some kind of revenge on everyone around him, and then didn’t want to face the music when he got caught.
Back in Middle School there were kids that intentionally trash school bathrooms, but that was just typical dipshit kid behavior.
I have never known anyone who intentionally trashes bathrooms as an adult. The closest experience I have had with that is I used to work in a repair shop and this one dude would always take a dump after lunch.
While he was shitting he would smoke in the bathroom and it made the bathroom a torture chamber for at least an hour after he used it. He claimed he did to mask the smell.
yeah my nephew got busted a few years ago for squirting ketchup and mustard all over the bathroom in his school. him and a couple of friends just like brought in squirt bottles and blasted it all over everything.

Some people care about nothing but themselves, once they are done with something they will destroy it or damage it so nobody else can have it or the use of it. It’s kinda like the kid who would spit on their food even if they didn’t want it so nobody else would want it.

Is there a psych term for that? I’ve definitely known folks who are ridiculously spiteful like that.
In the case of teens, it’s usually just a case of boundary pushing. I did a lot of property vandalism as a teen, because bored and angry. It was also something I only did socially, as in with friends, and yeah we all did it because we were bored and angry and smashing and breaking shit feels great.
It all stopped once we got jobs, cars and had more freedom, which meant we were not bored and angry anymore. Also we started doing drugs to fill the void. When we were pre teens we didn’t have access to drugs. So going to some junk lot or construction site and smashing up shit was the way to get high.
And yeah, of course as 12 year olds, we had no notion of how our actions might have impacted other people. The one thing we were super careful about was fire though, we never lit shit on fire because we know that could have very bad consequences.
I wouldn’t hold it against kids. We all know what it’s like to be adolescent and angry.
I’m not sure if there is an official term for it, but it falls under pure “spitefulness” or a “dog in the manger” mindset.
Everyone did stupid stuff when they were young, but there’s a big line between kids making noise out of boredom and people acting with total spite toward total strangers. Doing things that can cause direct physical harm to others and acting indifferent about it seems to be more common these days. The number of hit-and-runs in the news is a simple way to track it, IMHO.
Leaving a gross mess? No, but I knew a guy that was a fan of leaving upper deckers, he also used to do something I don’t know the name of it. He unrolled a couple metres of toilet paper, wiped in the middle of it and carefully reroll the paper back.
Edit: Oh! And I know a guy that once pissed in the hot stones of a sauna! The whole group got banned from the gym.
I mean, that is still a gross mess, but it’s way more deliberate than OP’s examples.

I haven’t been able to figure out why they do it other than an extreme lack of care for others. They aren’t cleaning it, so why should they give a fuck?

Where I’m from it’s because their mother handles all that, and they leave messes because no one told them to clean it themselves because it’s women’s work.

Precisely. I watched an 8 year old walk out of a bathroom and demand their ass be wiped for them. I’ve also seen husbands angrily walk up to their wives and say the kid/pet puked/pissed/pooped on the floor without ever considering cleaning it themselves.
When i still lived with my ex, whoever saw the cat puke first simply cleaned it up. I can’t even get into the mind of men who think cleaning is below them.
