This question might be too abstract. But it seems like people look for different aspects in romantic relationships. There are the ones that are drawn to opposite traits, ones seeking excitement, ones that wish for a stable anchor in their life, etc. And most of this happens subconsciously – or it does not. Maybe you have a different approach to love. Tell me about it.

That it’s made up. I don’t think it’s actually an emotion that can be viscerally experienced.

Of course i can google and see plenty of evidence that I’m wrong, but that’s not what you asked for.

In my opinion, love is more of a willpower and discipline thing. If i made a choice to work together, listen, help, share my life with another person. Then it’s up to me to uphold that decision as well. Technically it could work with anyone whos willing to make and uphold that decision as well.

Agreed. Love is a choice and an action.

Sad that in most of our poplar discourse, it’s considered a passive thing that happens to people, rather than something they choose to do. I feel like that expectation is socially negative if not destruction. Every long term couple I know frames their relationship as an active choice, but a lot of unhappy people I meet seem to frame it as something they have no control over.
