    Why do people keep calling him a clown? Genuine question. I thought clowns were supposed to be funny or at least try to make people laugh. This guy is not a clown?

      To “clown around” is to be inept or incompetent at a role. Calling someone a clown in a derogatory context references that meaning.

        He’s not a clown, though? He’s been scamming his way through life his whole life, at the expense of others. That’s not really clownish.

            Of course not, but it’s not because he’s clowning around. It’s because he’s an insatiable narcissist that is social media fodder for deplorable people. Not really very clownish.
