I just posted this in another thread but maybe it fits better here:
"Well, along with the head trauma and mental illness afflicted by it, I can’t work and I can’t even enjoy the taste of food anymore because I lost 2 of my 5 senses.
No worries though, had my disability case seen by a judge who is not even from my home state, with the lowest approval rating of judges in her already very red home state. Ope, I was denied disability after scraping by with zero income or support for years thanks to all the budget cuts credited to the wonderful DOGE. Good thing I had food stamps or I would have starved to death by now, but no worries, now that I got denied disability they took those away too and want me to go back to work to receive them.
Thought I’d be able to move out of the housing projects so I can stop being regularly assaulted on account of being openly queer. But now I have a violent felony after resisting being ganged up on by the cops during a psychotic episode after one of the assaults (being Mexican in small town USA is not so great).
Oh wait, that means now no one will hire me because I’m a violent felon with a 5 year work gap and bipolar with schizoaffective tendencies. So, I guess I won’t be able to get any more food stamps to eat the food, that I can’t even enjoy anymore if I did have it.
All because a patrol cruiser ran me over in a cross walk. I was damaged by the state, and the state has done nothing but trample me further since.
I know people have it worse in the world. I try not to have a “woe is me” attitude. I’m not alone in suffering this administration’s wake of damage. But I haven’t felt so hopeless in my life as I do these days. And I have had multiple suicide attempts when younger. I just gave up on that too."
And I don’t even know what to do homie, I just wanna curl up and rot away. To make matters worse I’m facing eviction, but am able to fight it somewhat because of the fair housing act and my disability. That’d be a death sentence. There are no homeless shelters in this valley open until the fall. I’d have to hitchhike somewhere that does and the thought is anxiety inducing!
I wish I knew someone else who has gone through something similar to me, maybe I’d get some hope or advice. The world terrifies me.

As someone who has never lived outside of Illinois except for a very brief time- I would guess it doesn’t matter as much what state you live in so long as you live in or close to a major metro area, like Chicago for me, where you can benefit from democrat policy and experience different cultures.
Basically look at a population density map, or of counties that voted dem (who ran again?) over Trump, and you will find better neighborhoods, better schools, better infrastructure, and higher cost of living of course because nice things aren’t free. These are the places in the USA you’d want to live.
I would rather live in one of Texas’ big cities than a small town in any state. Rural or small town areas are depressing and the people who have lived their whole lives in it have no idea.
