Anti-LGBTQ+ Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) followed in the president’s footsteps on Monday when he used an anti-trans slur to describe cisgender Democratic South Carolina Senate candidate Annie Andrews.

Scott said during an appearance on Real America’s Voice, “Annie Andrews, as President Donald Trump calls her, tr***y Annie, here’s a person who believes, as a pediatrician, for trans surgery, gender surgery for trans kids. That’s wrong. Period,” Scott said.

How is calling out slurs “respectability politics” or “language policing”? Are you seriously suggesting that they shouldn’t call attention to bigots and harmful discriminatory language?

Not exactly. I think you can point it out, but, Jesus, please don’t fucking run on it.

I remember Michele Obama being absolutely SHOCKED by Trump’s “grab them by the pussy” comment. She had never heard such language! It just makes us look like sheltered and oversensitive babies. This is fucking political war, not a kindergarten classroom. Fight over shit that matters, like bathroom bills if transrights is your issue.

That IS shit that matters. If that’s how someone talks about women in private, I don’t want to be in the same room as him, let alone give him more power over women. Along with his “locker room talk” defense, that was a perfect representation of the misogyny that we’re fighting against. It wasn’t that he used a dirty word, it’s that he thinks half the population are objects to be grabbed.

Yeah, and how did it work out? Trump won twice. Just because it offends you personally doesn’t make it a winning political issue.

How men talk and act towards trans women in public is how they’ll think and act towards cis women in private. A quick, succinct rule of thumb to call these fuckers out, and one I’ve yet to see broken. Unfortunately a good portion of cis women are too transphobic to heed this warning.
