The Democratic minority leader was asked about opposition to his leadership from new members and said the “issue is not me. I’ll be re-elected as majority leader. The issue is focusing on the American people and what they want.”

because there is no filibuster-proof majority

Yet a rule change to kill the filibuster takes only a simple majority to pass. Keep that in mind as you hear their excuses.

It seems that process is a little janky but it’s definitely the most viable path to get rid of the lazy / silent filibuster. This and ending the Electoral College’s impact to Presidential outcomes by passing the NPVIC should be top priorities for Democrats.

But the ratio to override a presidential veto is codified in the constitution.

My greatest fear is that the honest truth that very little (note: not nothing) can be done to change things even with the change in congressional power will crush the spirit that got us to this moment.

We have to get the message out there that this is just the first leg of a marathon and real change cannot come without the executive branch.

Im hopeful again that the pendulum is swinging back in the direction of progress, but we have to be realistic so we don’t get dispirited in the next two years and lose ground in congress even if we take the presidency back from the fascists.
