Democrats have won the Senate majority, a feat that seemed unreachable last year but that came to fruition with Republican candidates failing in states won just two years ago by President Trump, whose failing approval ratings was a huge drag on the GOP.

Victory in the Senate will deliver additional oversight powers to Democrats, who will now have a much bigger say on administration and judicial nominations.

They will also set the schedule for the Senate and have new powers to call in administration officials for hearings.

The string of Democratic victories sets the stage for Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to return as majority leader in 2027 and for hardball negotiations with Trump on an array of issues, including on federal spending levels.

I hope the new blood light a fire under Schumer’s ass before they are absorbed by moneyed interests. This was some of the most rancid levels of xenophobic, Islamophobic, antisemitic, anti-queer and anti-Black rhetoric I have ever seen during an election cycle in my (admittedly very short) life, it’s insane how the right AND the center-right just attacked through every hateful vector available. Americans were not having it, and the Dems need to acknowledge which way the wind is blowing.

Exit polls show that 50% of all voters think that the US provides too much support to Israel. Schumer is for sure doing that Principal Skinner meme right now.

It’s okay, Chucks imaginary voters are still to the right of Attila the Hun.

He’ll be voting in favor of issues that they’d agree with.

A dozen of 255 seats is still a minority in the house. Schumer also used his own Superpac to donate $30mil to El-Sayed’s campaign, so he’s not fully against anti-Israel candidates or understands controlling swing states for the 2028 elections.

Either way, it’s obvious AIPAC lost bigtime this midterm and it’s up to the Dems to recognize that. They have a real chance at a supermajority for 2028, and Schumer may have less of a backbone than an eel, but he’s not 100% stupid at the game considering the tight races in Mississippi and Louisiana are his handpicked candidates.

What do you mean “a dozen”? AIPAC funds majority Dems

“As of November 2026, 247 of 262 Democratic members of Congress have received money from AIPAC and pro-Israel PACs, totaling $135.6 million according to FEC filings. This includes 45 Senators and 202 House Representatives”

They also sit on ALL of the committees. I don’t think they are going to hold anyone associated with their mossad blackmail op reaponsible

I can forgive them for taking Israeli money before the Gaza Genocide. But once the Genocide started, and especially after Netanyahoo convinced Trump to go to war, every Dem should be refusing Israeli money. I know they are doing it because they are afraid of losing the Jewish vote, but a lot of American Jews don’t like the Genocide either.

From here on out, my support for Dems rides on whether they are accepting AIPAC money. If they are, I’m not supporting them. Support for Israel needs to be a third rail that ends careers.

I would agree with that. The Israel situation really blew up within the last few years as the sheer scope of it was all revealed. It is worth noting that even though we didn’t know what Israel was doing, they did though so it is still a good judge of their character.

Slotkin surprised me by stopping her AIPAC money, speaking about the government being turned on her and going after the regime members. But I will wait to judge actions

I was responding to this part of the OP, I have no idea on the numbers on how many AIPAC dems there are in the House. But I’m also not gonna sit here and pretend that the job’s done because we elected a blue House and Senate. Schumer and Jeffries needs to be out, and I’m already volunteering with organizations that want the same thing for the 2028 elections. So I repeat, WE NEED TO BE ON THEIR ASSES.

Absolutely. I’m seeing a lot of “leftist” infighting already, when the bigger picture right now is that we need to get money out of the Gulf and into universal Medicare, lowering the COL, and getting these fucking monied pedophiles out of government. Bickering over if a private or public company is gonna fix our potholes can come after we all have rides to drive over said potholes. (Public, and my ride is a bus hopefully)

America has moved past that sort of smarmy racist campaigning. EVERYBODY has worked with or for people of all sorts of religions, races, and national origins. MAGAs could scare people back when people were still confused about Muslims, etc., but that’s passed. 9/11 was 25 years ago, the world has moved on. The rampant, open racism doesn’t make people feel good, it creeps them out.

The insane racist attacks on Sayed, the mind-boggling Ramaswamy ad supporting pedophiles, the defection of Haley Stevens, etc. were shocking and disturbing, but only served to solidify Democratic resolve. We’ve seen how these traitors operate now, and we are no longer shocked at their depravity, it just makes us angrier, and more resolved to punish them.

I was really heartened to see that exit polls showed 60% of Jewish voters in Michigan voted for Abdul after all the media smears about how “the Jews wouldn’t support an Arab” (literally quoting some “analyst” on MSNBC). They want to bring whatever is happening in the Gulf here so bad.
