The whole Ed Sheeran thing with Israel. I completely agree that Israel is fucked up and such, but I think it’s bullshit everyone tries to destroy his career over his opinion, which isn’t even pro Israel, it’s neutral. He’s not funding Israel and he’s not killing anyone there. The reason he’s staying neutral is to avoid what happened to Macklemore by taking a position and being kicked off the tour by promoters and higher ups. Personally I don’t give a crap about Ed Sheeran, I wouldn’t go to his concert if it was free and across the street, but how everyone just hops on the same hatewagon just because is really sad.
Eh, don’t know if I quite agree with that one. In this case, silence is tacit approval. Saying you’re neutral when a country is committing genocide is the same as endorsing it, full stop. That’s where he tripped up and why the backlash.
Why wouldn’t he say he’s against it, unless he was worried about offending the people who are committing the atrocities, and people do not want to associate with someone like that.
