Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed’s former opponent in the U.S. Senate primary, Haley Stevens, has stunned party officials by endorsing Republican Mike Rogers
All the main establishment figures have condemned her endorsement (Schumer, Jeffries, Gillibrand). Most of her staff reportedly resigned (according to her former chief of staff). Though personally I think they should do more to attack her as a person to minimize the strength of the endorsement. Lots of easy angles like “sour grapes” or “doesn’t care for Michiganders more than her ego”.
She’s still a congresswoman until January, but it’s unlikely she’s a useful vote. She’s presumably paving her way to become a “why I left the left” propagandist for the Nazis, so we’ll probably see her vote against the party a few times.
