The first Earth Day was 56 years ago. “The Limits to Growth” was published in 1972 (and didn’t even include climate change, so yay). We started to stand up, but I think got pushed back down quickly.

the people standing up in 1972 were still gonna live to old age. nobody still standing can be quite so sure.
that said, we do seem really down for letting them kill us.
