Enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) has decreased significantly over the past year in the US following restrictions imposed by the Trump administration, which has forced more people to seek help from food banks or go hungry, stakeholders say.

The number of people who receive food stamps has dropped from 41.6 million in July 2025, before the One Big Beautiful Act took effect, to 36.5 million in June 2026, a 13% decrease, according to the latest data from the US Department of Agriculture, which administers the program.

Tell all those Christian conservatives that Jesus said not to worry if you accidentally feed 1 wolf, so long as you fees all your sheep.

Meaning there will always be those who get a benefit that don’t need it, but its more important to ensure everyone that needs it gets it.
