I’m continually baffled by how the faith was hijacked by the violent, greedy, sociopathic despots of the world, because this valuing of human life and rejection of violence against others are central.
If only the people would read. Most people’s kneejerk hatred for the gospel comes from their interactions with violent and hateful righties that go to weekly feel-good seminars to justify their misanthropy to themselves.
The rich infected and rotted the Church because it used to be a communitarian leftist thorn in their pockets.
Typically the calls for violence from the minority on the left are a frustrated desire to respond to violence with violence, to resist violence with violence, or to throw off the system entirely and build a new one, which often requires violence.
Yeah…I struggle with this sometimes. I get heated, and I get angry, and I wonder where the line is to rack our rifles and go “FINE. HAVE IT YOUR WAY.” … but I’m still deprogramming growing up in a conservative household…
