and heard a lot of citizens mention how TERFy it can be there
That’s just the politicians. The Conservatives and the Reform (fascist) party are bigots; Labour is infiltrated by TERFs. The Greens have an inclusive policy. I have trans friends and colleagues, and the official discrimination here isn’t nearly as bad as it is in the US under Trump, so far. And in daily social life, people just get along. It’s also less homophobic here, even in a largely rural county like the one I live in.
That was four (Cons, Labour, Greens and Reform) and even then I simplified. There are two more small nationwide parties that I didn’t mention (Restore, for the voters who don’t think Reform is fascist enough) and the Liberal Democrats (a centrist party that has hung on for decades, but seems increasingly irrelevant lately). Then there are the Scottish National Party (SNP) and Plaid Cymru (the Welsh nationalists).
It’s effectively a two-party system in the UK. In England, that has been Labour and the Conservatives, but the Conservatives’ support has collapsed and been replaced by Reform. In Scotland, the two major parties are the SNP and Labour. In Wales, it’s now Labour and Plaid.

Whoah there, that’s three political parties you named. Us here in the US of A can’t count past two politcal parties.

I’m green with envy.
