The report comes in the midst of Trump’s aggressive campaign to overhaul some of Washington’s most sacred cultural and historic institutions

A White House report has branded the leadership of the Smithsonian Institution, particularly the National Museum of American History, as radical activists who are untrustworthy, signaling Donald Trump’s potential move to appoint his own team.

This report, issued by the White House Domestic Policy Council on Independence Day, aligns with President Trump’s aggressive efforts to reshape Washington’s prominent cultural and historical institutions.

Earlier in March, Trump had already indicated his intent to enforce changes at the Smithsonian through an executive order, which aimed to cut funding for programs promoting “divisive narratives” and “improper ideology,” as part of his ongoing critique of what he perceives as overly liberal culture.

It wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to make it be the best version of itself it could be, and fight tooth and nail against attempts to make it worse.

It’s not just one man. Congress could stop him at any time if they wanted. One party wants this.

Many people have died since January 2025 that would be alive if Kamala had won. There is no undoing that. I don’t think we have any state sponsored necromancers.

No, but McConnell is currently hanging on through black magic and a heart bypass machine.

(I assume. I’d bet money he is only alive on a technicality.)

If Trump can become emperor that will, in some sense, be at least a partial recovery of the Roman Empire. To such extent, the country may, some day, recover.

I wonder if the country will ever recover from the damages this man has caused

      …so far.

I was watching a video about the Chumash Indians, how they were moved to and congregated around the missions of Southern California (to save their souls) where they got European diseases and died. I’ve visited several of those missions multiple times, those stories are not advertised. It seems the concept of hiding our truths has a deep and storied history, just like in this Smithsonian story. Meanwhile, one of the oldest works of fiction on the planet, the Holy Bible, cannot be touched by the US government by First Amendment mandate.

The bar is so low that a confessed pedophile who registers as a small sex offender and seeks help is MORE trustworthy than this president.

The current Secretary of the Smithsonian is a Black guy who was just featured on Meet the Press. I’m sure that’s a coincidence.

    ‘cannot be trusted’

To sufficiently stroke Trump’s fragile ego and compensate for his small hands, I think is what they meant.
