Is a 5’2" girl and 6’2" boy an ideal height combo for a couple?

Saw this pairing come up in a conversation recently and it got me curious what people actually think. A foot of height difference is pretty significant, so wanted to get different opinions on it.

Things I’m curious about:

Does a big height gap like this actually matter for compatibility, or is it just an aesthetic preference some people have?

For those in relationships with a noticeable height difference (either direction), does it cause any real day-to-day issues, or is it just something people online make a bigger deal out of than it actually is?

Is there an “ideal” height gap at all, or does it really just come down to personal preference and has nothing to do with how well a couple actually works?

Not trying to start a debate, just genuinely curious what people think, especially those who’ve actually experienced a similar height gap themselves.

There is no ideal height combo. You should enter into a relationship with a person because you like who they are as a person. Height preferences are purely selfish sexual interests.

I mostly agree but down vote for the comment saying sexual preference would be selfish. You shouldn’t shame people for what they prefer.

Sexual preference is inherently selfish though. I’m not shaming it just calling it what it is.

Sexual preference implies in this case a partner being present. As sexuality is in this case a partner exercise, you are implying sexual preference is exclusively wanting to use the partner for sexual gratification… Which is the assumption of a 15 year old at best. Without the hyperbole it’s probably more of an inexperienced 25ish old? Sexuality is inherently about the person you are with, its about intimacy above everything else (welp not for avoidant people, those don’t want intimacy, just sexual gratification).

I’m not implying that at all. And what’s with the personal attack??? Talk about implying. I’m saying that in order to find a good relationship we should learn how to recognize and potentially put aside these sexual preferences in favor of seeing a person for who they really are. Most women prefer taller men. The height doesn’t make them better partners.

Ideal for what?! Constantly being asked to reach things from the top shelf?

My wife is about 6” shorter than me and it’s already inconvenient in a bunch of ways. A full foot apart? Jesus, my back hurts thinking about it.

I’m trying to understand what you’re asking. What exactly would make any height difference “ideal”? What do you think would be “better” about one height difference versus another? What do you mean by “compatibility”? Do the genders of the people involved matter?

My wife of > 40 years and I; the only issue is that we have to adjust the seat and mirrors of our car when swapping drivers. Apart from that it’s smooth sailing.

That’s my wife and I, and we’re crazy for each other. But “right height” isn’t enough to build a relationship on, it’s just a bonus.
