    “The MAGA folks took from the 2024 election that this was a great issue for them, that it was one that united their base and made Democrats uncomfortable,” Erickson said. “And that was all true at that moment, but now they’re going way beyond any concerns the public had.”

    Like, I want to just take the win, but a) it was only “true at that moment” because Democratic moderates like Third Way got uncomfortable and made the whole party fumble our response to this, b) Third Way getting on the right side of this issue doesn’t stop the harm Amy Acton and Mary Peltola and other anti-trans Dems are out there doing on the campaign trail now, if they really care about the long term health of the Democratic party they need to be doing more to pressure those campaigns to do better

      Even in 2024, it was a dogshit strategy that turned off indie voters. The Republicans won because Democrats had nothing else to run on. So they settled on “Nuh-uh!” and “Trump will definitely go to jail after the election”.
