In the US, midterms are just over a month away. New officeholders will take office early next year. As things stand, the Democrats are very probably going to take the House of Representatives and looking more likely than not to take the Senate. Either will give them the power to conduct investigations into Executive Branch activity. I would predict unprecedented use of this power. I’d bet that a lot of Trump administration figures are going to be spending most of the next two years sitting in front of Congress being grilled and with the Executive turning over information on its activities to Congress, some which will probably wind up in the press.

Best case scenario it will stop most of the damage, but with veto power from the white house, nothing will get fixed.
When you’re bleeding out, the first step is to staunch the wound. You still have to do the other steps, but you gotta do the first step first.
I sure hope you’re right; although I unfortunately don’t expect things to go that way… I don’t have much hope or faith left. :(
