They’re now claiming that trans women “stole” over 2000 gold medals from cis women. But if you look closer, that number should be much… higher?
[…]
CWALAC doesn’t say those 2,293 gold medals were won in any specific time period, just that they were won at some point. But entries on the dataset go back as far as 1927 (doing a lovely job of emphasizing something we always say: trans people have always been here). If anything, with such a huge dataset, if trans people were dominating sports, you’d expect significantly more wins from trans people.
Even the notion of what they are considering a sport where trans women would have an advantage seems undefined. While there are major sports like swimming, soccer, and hockey, other sports included where trans people are supposedly dominating are bowling, disc golf, Irish dance, and competitive oyster shucking. This is all separate from their non-athletic section, which includes prom queens, best actress nominations, and Jeopardy! performances.

Jeopardy? Don’t the men and women compete together in Jeopardy? Is there, like, a Women’s Jeopardy?
That’s also what jumped out at me.
It’s like chess, I think - a women’s category only makes sense because of the long standing societal and historical barriers to women’s participation.
As we move on to a world where players aren’t discriminated against based on gender, the split no longer makes sense.
