I was about to type pretty much the exact same thing, but I figured it would already be here for me to upvote :)

I wasn’t paying attention when Facebook started ruining technology with bad business decisions but it’s getting old.

I have an oculus VR that’s basically useless now that meta owns the company. They decided to stop updating it, so my 450 dollar bought brand new hoped it would last for life is a paper weight.

Pay wall for already way too expensive and kind of pointless glasses? Like what. Is that how they’re making money now?

I am kind of into the idea of having a little screen on the peripheral of my glasses for a heads up display as an interface with my phone. Or even as a full screen mirror for my phone to be able to browse lemmy or watch video while still keeping an eye on my surrounding. I really can’t imagine why they decided they also needed to have it record everyone secretly.

The google glass design was pretty cool, sans camera. Iirc people were modifying them I think? Wonder how hard it would be to remove the camera. Probably soldered directly to the board. You could always try to make your own with some form of transparent screen

Good headline. Didn’t call them “owners”. Because this doesn’t happen to something you own.

Article’s first sentence already fails though.

They seemed reasonable for people that like fishing and the like (ignoring the huge privacy issues).

This bait-and-switch bullshit has gone way too far and I hope the few dozen socialists that get elected this fall really wreck this shit for the billionaires and force regulation.

Usually one would wait til their product take over the market before enshitifying it. For this one, they don’t even have a feasible market. Who am I to judge tho.

    GOOD!!! FUCK THESE GLASSES

These should literally exclusively be an aid device for the visually impaired and nothing more.
