From an ideological viewpoint, I agree fully.
From a technical viewpoint, Excel is still the best by far.
For a normal office worker, LibreOffice Calc is all they need out of a spreadsheet software.
But those working in finance or in other power user roles will either not be able to switch or have a very hard time switching from Excel.
Calc is a brilliant program, there is no denying that, but it is far from a drop in replacement for Excel
VBA still works with both
if you need arrays perhaps use a more ergonomic programming language

So tell me what happened with that Sept patch that broke Copy/Paste. But you keep on giving us features the majority of users will never use. ThanksI’m sure this is some AMAZING thing that a few users need/ want. But we had lists and arrays

Not OP but I use an Enterprise version that is fine, I guess a different release branch. My mother doesn’t have the enterprise version as she works for a small business and it broke.
The whole spreadsheet paradigm is an appallingly stupid way to handle most data. It should really die a death, outside of (maybe) a few boneheaded accountancy uses.
Ok, if a spreadsheet is a stupid way to deal with most data, what do you suggest is used instead?
Lots of people require basic level functionality. Often one or more lists with a few columns and some adding up. Spreadsheets designed for serious users are not very good at that. As you need data integrated into other things not separated in another application. More than 1 list is a pain as you can’t move them freely as cell sizes must line up so they mess the other one up. They can’t be overlapped or separated easily. Most users are not finance wizards. But the world of open standards is so screwed up that there is no decent way to handle information. Silos are to be avoided too. So it’s hard to find an alternative to suffering using the wrong tool. Microsoft doesn’t care about users. And open source is focussed on the IT side and not on users.
You have yet to suggest an alternative, you just told me why you think it is bad, not what should be used instead
There is basically nothing for people’s information today. The digital landscape is a disaster.
Ok, so spreadsheets are maybe not brilliant for the job, but if there is no alternative then there is little point in bashing them
