What I’ve learned in my 35 years of life is that you can’t stop stupid people, stupid people will never change, and stupid people will always win by sheer numbers
Education. What is missing is honest, good education.
Yes but we live in a world where more people will side with an angry asshole than a calm intellectual. The problem is systemic. Our society rewards greed, sociopathy, aggression, and punishes intelligence, progression, equality.
You can’t stop stupid people but you can get them on your side with enough convincing and promises. Which is exactly what MAGA did. Stupid doesn’t equal evil. It’s the evil people convincing the stupid to do their bidding by making them feel better about themselves, promising the world, and convincing them that the evil they are doing is a good thing. And there’s a difference between stupidity and ignorance. You can’t teach stupid, but you can teach the ignorant. That doesn’t sound like a big distinction but it is. Imagine how many of these people could have been the most highly educated people in the country but ended up stuck in rural Iowa working the family farm.
You can’t stop stupid people, yet you can promote clever ones.
Being smart and educated needs to be cool again, there has been enough championing of stupidity and the banal.
It may not have been vilified like it is now, but it was never cool.
Nah, it’s always been vilified.
You can absolutely stop stupid people.
