Businesses love H1-Bs because it’s practically slave labor. Let the VISA holders have a grace period to more easily switch jobs, even join a union, so the salaries get closer parity with American workers. They’d then have to compete on their merits not their low price tag.
Yup, this. Donnie is probably doing it for xenophobic reasons, but, honestly - I don’t think we should have ever had the h1b system, at least not in the way it was used. It was always totally scammy and just used to suppress wages.
If a company really cannot find the talent domestically, then there should be a program in which someone has their citizenship accelerated so they are FULL citizens working here. But this bullshit of having disposable workers - fuuuuuck that noise.
