I’ll say it again. This won’t increase employment of Americans. It’ll just hasten offshoring instead.
I’ll say this - wtf we need h1b anymore? With AI I can replace 200 indian devs
Let me know how that works out for you btw.
Dude that’s going even worse. Fuck AI with a rusty pole.
The Indian devs in my experience are using AI now so to the haters… The offshore rip is really just pumping AI with a middle man now
If my experience using AI tools to generate python script to separate audio into AI-generated stems means anything, then you absolutely DON’T want to do that. It fucks up all the time and the results are rarely good.
Broken clocks
Businesses love H1-Bs because it’s practically slave labor. Let the VISA holders have a grace period to more easily switch jobs, even join a union, so the salaries get closer parity with American workers. They’d then have to compete on their merits not their low price tag.
Yup, this. Donnie is probably doing it for xenophobic reasons, but, honestly - I don’t think we should have ever had the h1b system, at least not in the way it was used. It was always totally scammy and just used to suppress wages.
If a company really cannot find the talent domestically, then there should be a program in which someone has their citizenship accelerated so they are FULL citizens working here. But this bullshit of having disposable workers - fuuuuuck that noise.
Next come the exceptions and selective enforcement.
Fucking so dumb.
I’m in a part of the country where I’m competing with global talent for a job. To be frank, I’m not that good - and neither are most people. It makes it incredibly difficult to get a job in the area. So, I’m not totally heartbroken about the fee. I’d like to see more companies invest in local talent.
