In the PC vs Mac story, Mac has evolved to appear to respect your privacy more than Windows. It is also seen as an OS that gets out of your way and allows you to focus on work, while Windows is seen as a billboard of ads and annoyances. I am not saying either is 100% true, however, this is my impression after 15 years as an IT guy speaking with users.
That is part of it, but not the whole story.
