If you read left to right, you can’t assume year so you have to read it in full, working backwards, to get the full meaning. Year first means you get more specific while reading. Natural logic and hierarchy in reading direction.

I’ve seen this sentiment a couple of times on Lemmy and I don’t get it. For me it’s more logical to state a date the way you speak (I’m no English native speaker, though).
