The law isn’t what’s moral. Thompson was a murderer, and nobody should be persecuted for his death.

That’s a valid but also very superficial take. The reason many people sympathise with him is that he killed only a single person, whereas Brian Thompson killed thousands by denying them the healthcare they already paid for. The fact that that’s legal is the real problem here.
And rejection rated dropped after the murder, so it’s entirely possible that Luigi saved more lives than he took.
Yes, this is a sick take, but it’s also a sick system, and denying that is unhelpful and dishonest. The system needs to be fixed. Something good needs to come out of this, not merely the punishment of this one guy.
laws are not what make something ok or moral. just legal. the ceo he killed? that guy killed thousands through legal corp policy putting profit over people. why are you ok with that?
When a murderer reaches the status of folk hero, you need to think deeply about why.
You can break no laws, and still deserve to be shot like a dog in the street.
