Given that the feds are not only not going to help but are actively working toward rigging or even seizing control of this November’s election, it’s going to be up to us and the individual states to make sure our voices are heard and our votes are properly counted.
For starters, building a position for yourself (if you can) that makes it so you don’t, like almost every other American, say “I can’t do anything about it, I have to take care of myself and my family”.
It’s about future generations. It has been for a while.
Welp, guess I’m out
Everyone is in at a certain point. At least decide now what the point is that you’d be in, so that when it hits you know it’s time. Otherwise you’re another frog being boiled and never noticing.
Ie. If the point where you join the solution is “the president is an incontinent, narcissistic rapist pedophile”, then you would have already been fighting a long time ago.
Is it “when they’re at my door trying to take my kids”? Hopefully not quite that late. But somewhere between that and “the US has literally been taken over by a gang of fascists and oligarchs” there’s got to be something that hasn’t happened yet that will get people going…
It’s not “innocent US citizens being murdered by federal agents”. It’s not “literal concentration camps holding legal permanent residents”. Only you know what it is.
If I resorted to violence every time the US pissed me off I’d be dead or in prison decades ago.
It’s a shitty country and I barely care enough to vote.
Boooooooo
I like the way you answered the legitimate question with another meaningless piece of advice that lacks anything actionable. Why are we losing?!
…uhhh exactly because of people like you with attitudes like that??
YEAH BUT TELL ME HOW
Jesus Christ, everyone’s life is different, put on your big boy pants and figure out what that looks like for you.
Edit: Technically they did say “what exactly”. So I guess I’d start with stockpile a decent amount of food (“I can’t afford to miss work, I’ll starve”), think about growing even a handful of edible plants, change your diet to be more modest/cheaper and save at least a bit of the excess in inflation hedges, start supporting farmers markets which can often be competitive with grocery stores. Get to know your neighbors better. Find out who is good at what and trade favors. Learn how to sail the digital high seas, use that extra money to prepare as well.
Again, not for everyone but there’s a handful
People like me like the way you reduced my entire person to a short post I made, then later came back and actually read the exchange and were like “oh wait, that was reasonable”. Very cool, very normal way to interact with people.
Fighting systemic problems is one of those things you just figure out.
Perhaps PEOPLE LIKE YOU should decide if they want to be helpful and have meaningful, actionable advice to give or if they want to share platitudes and attack anyone who questions their wisdom. For example, someone might point out that attacking people who say “I can’t do anything about it, I have to take care of myself and my family” then following up with advice that is entirely about taking care of yourself and family is a bit odd.
I was reasonable years ago. Now that we’re here, I honestly don’t have a lot of sympathy, sorry.
Edit: Also, way to take the advice given and write if off due to sheer stupidity. Of course the advice has to do with taking care of your family. Which frees you from using taking care of your family as an excuse to not do anything.
Fucking goddamn Americans. Sorry but it’s an absolute nightmare sharing a border with you guys.
