NYC launches study to cool subway stations plagued by extreme heat. The congestion pricing-funded project would explore ways to lower platform temperatures and recycle excess heat.
This doesn’t make any sense. They say the subway platforms are too hot during the summer, which is true. Everything in NYC is too hot during the summer, including the platforms.
Then they say that during the winter, they want to transfer heat from the subway platforms to buildings that can use the heat. How is that supposed to help with the platform temperature during the summer? It’s not especially hot in the subway during the winter either. So there’s no need to move the heat out.
