After failing CISSP once on time management (not knowledge), I rebuilt how I practice. Three things that actually moved the needle:
- Timed sets over untimed review. 25 questions, 30 minutes, no pausing. Untimed practice taught me the content but not the pacing, and pacing is what fails people.
- Log the reason for every miss, not the right answer. Mine bucketed into “misread the qualifier”, “two plausible answers”, and “genuinely didn’t know” — only the third needs more studying.
- Rotate domains daily instead of finishing one domain before starting the next. Interleaving is uncomfortable but retention is much better a month out.
The free question banks I use for the timed sets are here: https://www.examcert.app/
Direct domain drills I keep going back to: https://www.examcert.app/exams/cissp/ https://www.examcert.app/exams/ccsp/ https://www.examcert.app/exams/cisa/
There is also an AI explainer that walks through why a distractor is wrong, which helped more than the answer key: https://ai.examcert.app
Curious what other people here do for the last two weeks before an exam — full mocks daily, or spaced short sets?
