The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is pressuring African states to leave the International Criminal Court (ICC), according to sources close to the Court in The Hague, as reported in an exclusive article by Le Monde published on August 4.

According to the sources, the U.S. is employing two forms of pressure in this campaign.

First, Washington is allegedly spreading disinformation. The U.S. claims that the authorities of the targeted countries themselves risk being prosecuted by the ICC.

“Chad, which was recently criticized by NGOs for its support of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, reportedly felt vulnerable as a result. However, the likelihood of such prosecutions being initiated is considered ‘unlikely,’” the sources stated.

The second method the U.S. is using, according to the report, is threatening to terminate security agreements with countries that refuse to leave the ICC. Le Monde reports that multiple African ICC member states are targets of this American campaign.

“At the end of July, several African ICC member states received phone calls, visits, and letters from the United States. For example, Uganda received a letter on July 24 containing an ultimatum to leave the Court, or face consequences,” one of the sources explained.

Not that the ICC is great or anything, but the US is doing this for more power. Crumbling empire behavior by threatening allies again. States are like a dying animal at this stage.

They’re doing this because it was recently reported that the Trump regime was being investigated for war crimes by the ICC.

And so is Benji boi and hes just running the fuck around. What is the ICC gonna do to the Trump regime? Treat them like they treated Venezuela? No, dude. They can’t enforce a warrant against Trump because the US would rather start WW3 than let go of their pedos and rapists.

Its about power, in the end. “Everyone leave the ICC if you want my protections, I will make them illegitimate”. But go off.

You’re right, but maybe in reverse. It is all about power. ICC has been a cudgel the US could use when it suited them. But now it’s harder to use since someone is working on swinging it back at them. So rather than letting anyone see that it’s fairly toothless (even if everyone already knew it, see:Netinyahu), Trump is effectively going “if I can’t use this, neither can you”.
