The left-wing faction is hijacking the Democratic Party.

Even after a string of recent victories in congressional primaries by members of the Democratic Socialists of America, national Democrats appear slow to recognize that ideologues on the left are attempting a hostile takeover of the party. The DSA’s ascent comes on the heels of a years long effort by socialists and progressive activists to steer one of America’s two major political parties toward identity politics, isolationism, and hostility to capitalism.

Democrats looking for a way to reclaim their party can find inspiration in the career of Neil Kinnock, who in the mid-1980s rescued the British Labour Party from a determined band of sectarian zealots.

      In 2008, Kirchick wrote about newsletters that contained homophobic, conspiratorial and racist material, published under the name of Texas Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. The story again became prominent in the 2012 presidential election.

      . . . Immediately after U.S. Army soldier Chelsea Manning’s July 30, 2013 court-martial conviction of, among other charges, violations of the Espionage Act, Kirchick wrote in the Daily News that Manning was “lucky not to be headed to the electric chair.”

      Sounds like The Atlantic fucked up.
