What he’s saying: Paul has an “unhinged obsession with me,” and his motive for the hearing is to “get me to say something — anything — that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, quote, behind bars unquote,” Fauci said.

“Although it pains me to do so … under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions,” Fauci said.

The US is much larger than almost any European country. Also, the protests have been the largest in American history, which I think is significant considering how brow beaten the people are by media, politicians, and the education system. You act like there is a switch somewhere that will make all this better, but with the difficulty of modifying our constitution the only way that really changes is a total revolution, which does not guarantee a better government in it’s place, but does guarantee pain for all but those that can afford to escape. Why don’t you get that this isn’t easy? Trust me, I wish change had happened sooner, and I have used my vote and my voice to advocate for change, but I’m also willing to consider nuance and be sympathetic, which appears to be beyond your grasp at this time.

the protests have been the largest in American history

Did it change anything? Were there any serious demands? And when absolutely nothing happened, did people increase the efforts?
No to both, Americans went home thinking they’d done their due diligence. After all the actual acute problems mostly hit minorities, and everything will hopefully be fine after the next election.
You can whitewash this however you want, the end result remains that the Trump administration is continuing unhindered by any part of the American society and “checks and balances” that clearly don’t work.
Kudos to the ones that tried, but they don’t change that USA is continuing the decent the Americans have voted for. Giving insane Republicans the majority in the house the senate and the Presidential position.
As the sycophants say. 3 strikes and you’re out!! The American population has done it as decisively as is possible. There are no ifs or buts about it. The mentality of the American people is clear. And it is the absolute worst of all democracies in the world together with Israel, which is also a country of delusional religious fanatics.

        The Americans in question

Waaaah waaaaaaaaah! If I was in America I’d strap on my political change bootstraps and take my local bus on a 15 hour drive to DC and …?.. until everything was fixed

        • All media and media delivery platforms are controlled by less than 10 [fascist] men and they’re lying to you. Resistance efforts are growing despite the suppression which makes large scale coordination difficult
        • “Americans elected” is the most farcical shit if you know anything about the operation of US elections since 1999. SCOTUS quite literally declared GWB president in an election that he lost as a kickback for decades of legislative insurgency from the Heritage Foundation. Since then it’s been a free for all: new forms of voter suppression, foreign funding, voting machine shell companies, absurd gerrymandering, mass digital political surveillance, outright false elector conspiracies, etc… But sure, the guy who has 6 solid years of negative net approval rating is who American voters want.
        • “Trump administration is continuing unhindered” is exactly the narrative they want you to eat up. They release a bunch of draconian headlines, break some things and declare victory. In reality their performance has been shockingly poor when compared to the apparant strength of their position. The main success has been lining their pockets; on-the-ground operations slog and challenges in court mitigate or reverse nearly everything else.
