What he’s saying: Paul has an “unhinged obsession with me,” and his motive for the hearing is to “get me to say something — anything — that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, quote, behind bars unquote,” Fauci said.
“Although it pains me to do so … under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions,” Fauci said.
It’s frustrating, but an entirely correct response from Fauci, because this isn’t and was never about facts or data or science at all. The hearing is political kabuki of the absolute dumbest variety.
I can’t wait for the headlines that take this as an admission of guilt and confirmation of all those stupid conspiracy theories
Those headlines are already out. Idiots like Rand Paul are already saying it.
I had to turn one clip off because some idiot from Florida kept bragging about how her state was the state of freedom and how the federal government came in and opposed totalitarian restrictions.
I saw a reel where Hawley said “nothing says honesty like taking the fifth, hey doc”? And then stared at Fauci like he just got owned, not realizing he looks like a moron for saying that.
Ah, so that means all the times orangeboi did the same thing it was also an admission of guilt, right? Because that is the correct response to such an unrepentantly imbecilic line of logic.
But to be clear, orangeboi 100% did rape underage girls, amongst a whole fuckload of other heinous things.
Only if you apply logic, which these cultists neither do nor accept from others.
Sadly, its all pretty meaningless.
There’s three types of people, those who understand public health measures, those who hate fauci, and those who don’t know or care about either.
Fauci taking the 5th won’t move anyone between any of those categories, even with the headlines.

Course the Trump supporters will ignore the fact he said it 400 times or so during a deposition cause he’s obviously innocent. Apparently that was only in 2022 but I’m sure they just missed that in their news.
Same with the pardon he got, it’s got all the traction it’s going to get. Most people have tuned this out by now as old political noise.
My Facebook “friend” already posted he and his conspiracy theorist friends are “batting a thousand” based on this new revelation.
It’s extremely pragmatic and not at all politically convenient, which is exactly what I’d expect from Fauci.
