Technically, the war was “off” during that time, to avoid busting the 60 day limit without explicit Congressional authorization. We’re now in a completely new “second war,” by the way. So the 60 day clock has obviously restarted, duh.
Anyhow, those casualties couldn’t possibly have been war casualties, because we were dodging the war status for legal reasons.
Incredibly, that’s actually the reason they’re going with
Three military officials told the Times that “one reason behind the change was that the Trump administration decided to remove four service members killed this past weekend from the list … because their deaths occurred after President Trump declared a cease-fire in the war in April”.
Well, that’s “one reason,” I guess? What are the other ones and who made this decision? Who knows because this administration won’t tell us anything and lies over half the time it does say something anyway, so just infer the worst.

Holy shit removing dead service members from the rolls is such a huge dishonor to those who served and died.
Whether or not you agree with the war, these were people,and they deserve to be counted.
