I grew up on The X Files, those people/aliens/black goop were smart, organized, prepared, and had a full understanding of their goals, intentions, and how to handle the aftermaths. Were they bad guys? Absolutely. Were they vastly better and more humane to people as a species than what we have now? Absolutely.
