Cyclosporiasis is on the rise in the US but the information on how to handle the parasite is very contradictory. Literally heard on the radio this morning that in order to kill Cyclospora cayetanensis, you have to boil your produce but the news is saying something else.

    What’s your confusion? Antibiotics are a pretty common treatment for some types of parasites, including single-celled organisms like the one that causes cyclosporiasis.

      Actually not. This is a protozoa. Most anti-bacterials won’t work.

      The treatment is Septra, but only in extreme cases.
