Think you can just walk away as a Dem candidate now? Nah. Get your ass in there.

I mean, gas was up. That’s all it takes to make conservatives stay home. Conservatives supported absolutely everything else.

Not true. My mother-in-law refuses to talk about politics with me, but from what I can gather she didn’t vote for Paxton, because he’s ugly.

Enormous simplification. Gas prices were a major factor, even moreso because they are posted EVERYWHERE. The Dow is the prime indicator of the economy for the wealthy, but gas prices are that for the workers, and it doesn’t help that they were reminded of it on every corner as they were going to vote.

But it wasnt just gas prices. He harshly betrayed several groups that were important past sources of support: Epstein Files, America First, Young People, LATINOS, etc

Much of his Texas support in 2024 was from Latinos, and he thanked them with a brutal crackdown that destroyed families. His policies were directly responsible for turning Texas blue, something statisticians had been warning about for years. Trump finally made it happen.

Georgia flipped blue, along with many other seats, because of MAGA’s ugly, racist attack on hard fought and won Civil Rights protections. They took deliberate steps to send Black Americans back to the Jim Crow era, and would absolutely put them back into full slavery, if they could figure out how. They seemed to think that eliminating black voting districts meant that it eliminated black votes, but all they did was bury those black votes in previous bright red districts, diluting them, and making them vulnerable. Who would have thought that Black Americans valued their freedom so much? It’s almost like they are actual humans. /s

You can’t fuck over the very groups that put you over the finish line, and expect to win again. Gas prices is why they lost by a normal amount. All the other stuff turned it into a historical shellacking.

All of these horrible things from maga were not new though, yet so many still voted for them last time, and will again probably. Many flip flop, blame Dems for high prices they didn’t cause, at least this time blamed maga for causing high prices, but that’s coincidence. A lot of people flippantly flip flop, and will blame Dems next time since all the media says they’re in charge, but don’t know they can’t do whatever they want with all the maga obstruction of investigations and such. It also takes longer to build than destroy and most don’t have patience and demand instant gratification, so they’ll flop around.

I hope I’m wrong and they really see the light now and understand it all well, won’t lay false blame on Dems again and that maga is still the same, still toxic and bad policies so no flopping back.

There is so much horrible shit going on that people don’t have the bandwidth absorb all of it. Also, until it directly affects them, they don’t give a fuck. Besides the fact that many southern republicans are propagandized into racism, Christian white nationalism, and various forms of fascism and isolationism.

Running a successful campaign requires immense physical and mental energy.

    Apparently it sometimes doesn’t. Lol.

Iowans were so pissed off with Republicans on Tuesday that they elected Eric Armstrong to the state House. The catch: Armstrong, a retired railroad executive, pulled out of the race in September due to health issues.

    …

Speaking with The New York Times via phone Wednesday, Armstrong said he would “do my best to represent” Iowa’s 20th district.

It’s ridiculous. Bro stepped down two months ago, clearly didn’t spend a dime campaigning after and he still fuxking won. lol!!

  • “It’s an enormous change of pace from how Iowa’s 20th House of Representatives district was feeling even two years ago, when it swung in favor of Donald Trump by a margin of 20 percentage points.”

    Impressive loss by Republicans.

Don’t know about this specific case. But IIRC it is quite normal to have a deadline last chance to withdraw, related to when the ballots are printed. So he likely informally withdrew, but not officially as far as the rules are concerned.
