        Pah, even then. They knew of the crimes, they were a willing part of it and they lied through their teeth when the Allies came. Because why would you feel the need to deny if you truly wouldn’t have known about the genocide and everything else?

        And that’s why they’re back now, because they were never gone.

      They don’t believe it’s happening. Or they believe that ICE wouldn’t target someone for no reason, so they must be hiding something.

          It’s a size issue. If a groundswell of citizens in e.g. New Zealand wanted to overthrow their government, they could try. In the US, it would take insane numbers and a lot more logistical support than is generally realistic.

    Yeah, that’s the idea. They torture you until you self deport

    But even when we decided to make the difficult decision to ask to be allowed to voluntarily leave the United States—the place we consider our country and our home—the government not only opposed it but suggested that it would appeal any judicial decisions that grant us departure.

    Wait, what.

    I thought the idea was to use the concentration camps to torture people until they voluntarily self deport. What’s going on here?

        It’s easy to blame capitalism and greed, but I think that’s an insufficient explanation. This is genocidal behavior, from the bottom rung to the top. Profit is a cherry on top; these people want power, real physical power to prey on people without consequences.

          We can blame multiple things. But I think we have to remember that capitalism and greed has been the leading cause or excuse of this behavior for most of human history.

          Hitler became wealthy beyond his wildest dreams.

          The slave trade was extremely lucrative for the Dutch east India company.

          Most empires in history traded humans they conquered as commodities.

          This is to say, the point isnt only just cruelty.

          I think the more abstract power concept is also very much the point, but it might be harder for some people to grasp. It is hard to quantify power, but easy to quantify money. And money is traded for power in our society.

    This is why well regulated militias are supposed to exist, to enforce constitutional rights where the tRumpSSreich nazis are undercutting and eroding them. Idefinite imprisonment without trial? Citizenship means nothing? Immigrants deserve humanity; the current process is inhumane and to avoid it, the enforcers of idiotic half-policy MUST be brought to account at the time of infraction - ‘qualified immunity’ extends to citizens halting the abuse of the ‘qualified immunity’ of “officials” or qualified immunity is a load of manure and needs immediate burial

    I have struggled to understand how this can happen to people who have never broken the law, in a system I believed to be based on the rule of law.

    Oh C’mon

    The law says you can’t drive too fast or too slow. It says you can’t drive too reckless or too careful. The laws are designed so that you break them every day, to empower police to oppress you legally. And, more important, there are laws that must be broken to progress society towards equality.

    You discredit yourself and everything else you say by suggesting that you’ve never broken a law
