Honestly, that’s too risky to stage. I don’t buy that for one second. Long shots like that are fucking hard, wind will make or break a shot at that distance. Even someone as dumb, irresponsible, and delusional as Mr Trump wouldn’t go forward with a plan that had a very real chance of killing him instantly. Planning to have someone shoot you in the ear with a high powered rifle just for the publicity/sympathy? No.

Planning to have one of your supporters killed by a high-powered rifle and then using a squib to make it look like you’ve been shot in the ear is right up Mr Trump’s alley. Do you seriously buy that the security agency protecting the most powerful person on the planet wouldn’t think to keep an eye on one of of three rooftops within range of America’s most popular gun?
So each vaccine will be a separate visit, including the ones he plans to separate like the MMR vaccine. So individual visits, complete with individual copays. That surely won’t price people out of going at all, would it? What an unforseen aggression against the poor. 😑
Edit: I forgot preventative treatments don’t have copay so they can screw people this way at least
And both kids and parents will absolutely love going to the doctor every six months for shots.

All those extra visits are really going to push up profits for doctors and pharmaceutical companies.
But that’s the point, isn’t it?
Also, how are they going to kill your children with preventable diseases if you prevent them?

The parents with resources to make all the recommended well-child visits go to that amount of appointments anyway. The problem is many parents don’t have that level of sustained support and miss many of the recommended appointments. If the vaccines are spaced out, many kids just won’t get many of them.
Basically: “we have no actual power, but listen to us, not your doctor.”

No, he was actually pushing RFK Jr. to do this. I think his numbers are low enough that he’s shoring up support from fringe issue voters. We’ll probably see another attempt at federal transcare restrictions soon.

It is so weird how antivax went from a crunchy new age woo woo thing to an evangelical thing seemingly overnight
right around 2020, when trump started his anti-vax crusade is when everyone switched over, because anti-vaxer found a champion for thier anti-vax voices. that also the time when conspiracy sub switched over too.
This might be the worst thing trump actually does, including the Jan 6 insurrection. I’m serious. The implications are enormous. Far greater than a million people will die if even a small but significant fraction of people believe his lies, and act accordingly.

Obvious goal is to reduce the number of children who receive all the shots, even if the parents want them to, since every extra jab is unnecessary pain and another potential tantrum.
More importantly, it’s also potentially an excuse for insurance companies to refuse coverage for it. Money is a way bigger influence on parental behavior than upset kids are.
And a separate visit with a separate copay.

This one is interesting because spacing out the vaccines will reduce the fraction of children who actually go through with getting all their vaccinations and therefore have a net negative effect on public health, but at the same time I personally wouldn’t agree to get more than one vaccine in the same day. I recall getting rather sick after getting multiple vaccines at the same time when I was a child. (It wasn’t life-threatening, but it was quite unpleasant for several days.) And even now, the last time I got a covid booster I was in bed for two days afterwards. I wouldn’t want to potentially compound that reaction. A relative of mine recently insisted on spacing out all her child’s vaccines and that’s what I would do if I had the time and money for the additional visits to the doctor.
Not all vaccines work the same way and the COVID ones were different even from those we know. I don’t think each one has the potential to make you sick after injection.

Some vaccines are definitely harder than others on the body, but experiencing side effects, even ones that can take you out for a week (looking at you tetanus booster…), is normal. Some of those side effects are the body responding to the actual jab, which you’d now increase with this change since you’re increasing the number of individual shots.
