Do note: these aren’t a great option if you’re on Linux, since they no longer receive driver updates, and likely won’t work well on Wayland based systems due to that. You’d probably want to opt for an AMD Vega 56 instead for something that’s similarly powerful that can use the open-source driver, though I believe it’s a little more expensive.
Worth flagging for anyone pricing these out: a used 980 Ti pulls way more power under load than anything from the last few generations at a similar performance tier, so it’s worth costing out the electricity over a couple of years, not just the upfront price. If Maxwell-era specifically isn’t a requirement, a used GTX 1660 Super or RX 580 8GB tends to land in the same rough secondhand price bracket right now and draws a lot less power for similar 1080p performance. Either way, worth asking the seller for photos/video of the fans spinning up and checking for coil whine before buying - a good chunk of what’s floating around this cheap did time in a mining rig at some point.
