Donald Trump’s campaign strategist for his 2016 election win says: “I believe we will have a national emergency declared by late August,” ahead of the Congressional midterm elections due on November 3. “You will have enough evidence by mid-August to show that we have a massive problem” of election fraud, he tells me in an interview. Trump’s televised address to the nation on Thursday last week was the beginning of the process, he says.
The president declassified documents, which he claimed show “shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure” revealed by the 2020 election.
These had been hidden, even from him, by a “deep state” conspiracy of US intelligence services, he posited.
Trump demanded that the Congress pass a bill called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, or SAVE, Act. The bill stipulates that all voters produce a passport or birth certificate to be eligible to vote. Democrats denounce it as an effort at mass disenfranchisement. The Brennan Centre for Justice at New York University estimates that it could block 21 million Americans from the ballot box.
Under the US Constitution, it’s the states, not the federal government, that run elections. The SAVE Act would force state governments to hand voter roll information to Washington.
Trump sent his Homeland Security Secretary, Markwayne Mullin, out the following morning to issue a threat to state officials: they could face prison time unless they followed the administration’s orders to remove non-citizens from rolls.
We have a national emergency. And congress failed to deal with it twice, during Trump’s first term. Sadly, I don’t think that’s the emergency he’s going to claim.
Not just midterms to worry about btw. One year ago nearly to the day: https://www.c-span.org/clip/white-house-event/president-trump-quips-about-canceling-2028-elections-if-us-is-at-war/5170008
During the war, you can’t have elections? So let me just see, three and a half years from now, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? That’s good.
Pretty sure he said pretty much the same thing ahead of the 2020 election.
Fuck Steve Bannon, genuinely crazy he walks around free without fear
Right? Like why platform a guy who got bankrupted by lying about school shootings being a hoax?
non north American curious: Donnie announced a third term yesterday I think, does this means that Obama can also run? it would be interesting to see it, because from what I see in social media, Obama is loved and missed
Not until anything ‘offical’ happens. It probably won’t happen ‘offically’. He made a ‘joke’ at what used to be a joking correspondence dinner. It’s a nothing burger to get mad at because his supporters will say he’s not serious.
He’s Always been serious just like he’s always been aligned with Nazis but some supporters won’t see it unless it’s a very specific lense.
There gonna say: you are allowed two consecutive terms. Obama already had those.
Dirty trick that should not be able to stand. But this is an authoritarian society we are talking about
Yes, but this third term wouldn’t be consecutive
Nah, keep in kind they’re going to make up the rules as they go. They’re dramatically incompetent, but this should be easy to restrict to Trump only, even for idiots of their kind.
No, Obama can’t run. Only Lumpty Trumpty or any other Republican gets a third term.
If Obama tried to run under this pretense ol’Donnie will have him in prison on Trumped up charges as his first political prisoner.
Also, wouldn’t it be easier to have a puppet run and him VP until a “sudden but debilitating illness” regrettay forcing Annoying Orange to take over again?
VP is also prohibited, would have to be speaker of the house as 3rd in line
Imagine what the US would be like right now if Kamala had won. The US likely wouldn’t be as hated or disgraced as it is now.
There’s no conceivable way things would’ve been worse under Kamala. She wouldn’t have played three card monte with the nations coffers, she would have been professional and dignified when talking to press and to foreign leaders, and she wouldn’t have hammered on the DARVO button at the first sign of criticism.
Anybody that disagrees, well, enjoy your koolaid.
I didn’t refuse to vote for her because I thought Trump was smarter than her. I refused to vote for her because I won’t sign my name off on genocide to protect my own interests, comfort, or privilege.
If that’s the cost of saving this colonial imperial shithole nation, then the price is too high and I refuse.
Trump literally said thanks to him Palestine and Palestinians will all be destroyed. He literally thanked you for helping him do that.
Yes, and Biden said “no red lines”, I’m not arguing for Trump, I’m arguing that they’re equivalent. Thanks for supporting my point.
Quantifiably more Palestinians died with Biden in office than Trump by the way. They’re both embarrassing failures of our species who belong in the Hague, but Blue MAGA hates basic facts as much as Red MAGA does.
How’s that choice working out for you bud?
Pretty good, my conscience is clean of signing my name to endorse any genocidaire unlike when I got duped into voting for Biden.
Actual lol
because I won’t sign my name off on genocide to protect my own interests, comfort, or privilege.
Man, good thing Trump didn’t do any of those. Dodged a bullet you did. Fucking moron.
Begone Blue MAGA
I’m not even American you fucking idiot.
And?
What a stunning display of stupidity
Hey look, it’s one of those sanctimonious fucks. I’d been wondering if you’re happy now. Looks like you’re still standing by letting a fascist dictatorship steamroll your country
lol “standing by”, you think the alternative is voting for slightly less genocide, sit down lib
This is why I’m a leftist and not a liberal. You’re so close to the point, but missed it. Capitalism and authoritarianism must both vanish.
I’m of the opinion that no political parties should exist, and that we should all vote for policies instead of people. Get communities to vote on issues instead of picking sides like a hockey team. I believe in no hierarchies, and that we should have workers’ councils and mutual aid.
I also believe in a self-defence force and guerrilla warfare—rather than a military. I believe in this form of anarcho-communism, rather than any form of actual hierarchical power. Housing, food, healthcare, etc, should be communally owned by everyone.
Feel free to join us, even though I doubt it will happen.
I don’t know what you’re talking about lol, I am anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian and I’m not sure how you arrived at any other conclusion since those topics weren’t even directly discussed in this thread.
I don’t subscribe to anarcho-anything because a sufficiently organized malicious force will always be capable of subduing a sufficiently disorganized benevolent force. You don’t organize humans in any relatively efficient manner on the scale of hundreds-of-millions-if-not-billions of people without some degree of hierarchies. Otherwise you’ll either drown in bureaucracy while your enemy runs laps around you, or suffer the consequences of randomly selecting unqualified individuals for positions of leadership.
Trump is VERY authoritarian is the thing. Not only is he pro-violence like liberals, he also wants to control what people do at all times.
Congrats! Now you have all this plus genocide. How magnanimous.
Lol right? OH I STOOD MY GROUND AND LET THE TROLLEY HARM US ALL, well great, now the Trolley’s gonna try and back up and harm us, and the other people on the track as well.
ok Blue MAGA
You’re still at fault for the genocide, sorry. Helping a dictator get elected because your fee-fees are more important than results makes you the problem.
Begone Blue MAGA
You put a hypothetical of another nation before your own people.
You would doom your own people to suffer the same fate as long as you can sit on a high horse. You throw away the women, lgbtq, and racial minorities to feel superior for what, exactly? A fucking assumption you have?!
It’s not even that you have to vote for democrats. It’s that you feel the need to argue over how superior you are for it while the nation burns around you. And you call others blue MAGA, lol.
You’re not morally superior. You’re a traitor. You can’t be trusted.
Yes, I put the actual murder of millions of Palestinians over the hypothetical discomfort and generally-non-fatal persecution of Americans, very much including myself.
To do otherwise would be to be a white supremacist: to decide that my potential suffering takes precedence over the actual genocide of “another nation’s” population.
And as America is a white supremacist nation, you’re right, to refuse the white supremacist mindset you espouse does indeed make me a traitor to those who subscribe to it. I can live with that.
Ehh, that’s not why it’s our fault. Acting like voting in giving consent is why it is our fault.
But by not voting for her, you also supported genocide? Perhaps it was implied rather than explicit, but the result is the same
A reminder to anyone reading this comment, not voting is a vote for the winner. Elections matter. Votes matter. And there will always be a winner. Not voting is literally accepting the outcome of the election regardless of your participation.
So if you chose not to vote in the last Federal Election, congratulations, you voted for Trump and everything happening is your fault.
I didn’t vote for either genocidaire. All Americans are inherently complicit just by virtue of living in this country, but at least I didn’t sign my name to endorse any genocidaire.
And in doing so, you did nothing to prevent the absolute worst possible outcome.
You are absolutely complicit.
All Americans are complicit.
We could’ve reasoned with Kamala. You just were lazy.
lol yeah worked great with Biden
Nah, you didn’t vote because you want things to entirely collapse in hope that we can rebuild better.
No, they didn’t vote because they’re a pussy who would rather wash their hands of the sins they’ve caused by saying “Well I didn’t vote for this!” while they watches it happen because they didn’t vote against it.
My ideology will rise from the ashes!!
I voted for the woman who isn’t a genocidaire actually
“I have nothing to do with this problem, I won’t touch the trolley lever even if there would be a thousand people in its path”
It’s a tough position and I don’t agree personally, but I respect your decision. It is the right of voters to decide completely by their own criteria
I don’t respect this person’s decision. They decided to opt out of the most basic way they can participate, and think that it’s a morally superior position to allow the greater evil. That’s stupid. You and I know that the lesser evil can be influenced by public opinion, and the greater evil just doubles down. It’s a worse choice in every way, and allowing their country to crumble this way is petulant and bereft of responsibility and maturity.
That’s just rude. There’s a difference of tactics here. They’re not supporting fascism and I think it’s pretty shitty to blame that on people who have their heart in the right place but don’t want to participate in the atrocious US electoral system of FPTP, by far most votes don’t make a difference anyway
It’s not necessarily the vote itself that does all the heavy lifting. Politicians pay a lot of attention to the stats of which groups are consistently voting and which issues are important for them, much more so than for what is important to the population at large because their bottom line is appealing to the people who show up to vote. Even if those votes are associated with their opponent if it’s a big enough block then throwing a bone to attract their vote becomes appealing.
For example, old people are one of the most highly consistent blocks of voters and (in our aging society) a growing one, too. Everyone wants to appeal to them as the math gets a lot harder if old people totally reject you! So with politicians competing for their support, social security & medicare make up over 50% of all the increase in government spending (not including more interest in the loans to pay for that which is also very substantial), even though the government already spends six times more on the average 65+ person than on the children and young adults <26, despite the latter group being substantially more likely to be in poverty. It’s not an economically sound decision, investing in the youth would provide better returns for society by setting them on a better trajectory for all the working life they have yet to live. But most of the ages in that younger block are not allowed to vote and the older near 26 are very inconsistent at voting, so their concerns really do not matter to politicians except insofar as the children are a concern of their parents who are much more likely to be voting.
Even if a movement is very popular with the general public, if that movement isn’t in the habit of voting politicians aren’t likely to stick out their neck for it if there are other more reliable voters they can appeal to. Because that would be seen as a wasted effort that won’t help them to win. But if a generally unpopular movement or view is popular with voters then politicians will tend to stand by it no matter what the general public has to say.
by far most votes don’t make a difference anyway
That’s remarkably disingenuous when some elections are literally won and lost by less than a few votes.
Every vote matters. Just because you vote for someone or a party that doesn’t win doesn’t mean your vote is wasted. More people who might want to vote for that party don’t because “Well, they only got 5% of the vote, so why bother” might see the next election that same party get 9% of the vote. Then 14%. Suddenly there’s more people voting for that party that will draw in more people to vote.
Every vote might not make a huge difference today, but it might be a part of a huge difference in 10 years.
So shut the fuck up and vote.
I meant that there are swing states where votes really count, and safe states (for either party) where a protest vote is easier to justify.
So besides directly and immediately allowing the greater fascist to win by abstaining from the easiest, most basic and important civil right known to civil society, what else are they doing to
enablecombat fascism?“Check this box to have a voice”
“No.”
“K. Next?”
“I RESPECT Y’ALL’S RIGHT TO ELIMINATE YOUR OWN RIGHTS BAR HA HA YA HA” - Fascists
have their heart in the right place but don’t want to participate
Honey they don’t have their heart in the right place if they stand by waiting while evil gets to work ❤️
It would be doing almost the same thingsz but it would be less in your face about them and the billionaire owned media would be quiet about them. We’d be just as hated and disgraced, but the average USian would be once again blissfully unaware of just how hated. At least until the reality inventing machine needed to gin up support for a war, then all the constant anti US sentiment in the places the empire has colonized will be shown in 4k as if it came out of nowhere while the public hoovers it up along with insipid platitudes like “they hate is for our freedumb”.
Some of our people would not have been fucking shot in the streets for protesting but i see they don’t fucking matter to you people. Toss your own people in the trash! There’s minorities across the world to virtue signal over!
Lol, guess you forgot about the state violence used to silence protestors for Palestine while Biden was President. Or does “if those kids hadn’t resisted they wouldn’t have been shot” somehow ring less mournful to the Liberal ear than “if that mom hadn’t resisted she wouldn’t have been shot”?
There’s minorities across the world to virtue signal over!
There it is. Just say you don’t think brown people are people and save us all some time.
Imagine what Palestine would be like right now if Kamala had won.
Basically the same as it is under Trump. And that’s why she lost, and why she deserved to lose.
The evidence is coming from inside the house.
Who owns the voting machines? Who audits the software? How are the votes tabulated? Are they using remote servers like in Ohio 2004?
Elections are done by the states, as clearly outlined in the Constitution. If Red states want to opt out, they’re welcome to do that, but the Blue states (and most Red ones) are going to have their elections anyway, and they will count.
All the rest of it is just smoke.
The point is to force an constitutional crisis to allow the Supreme Court to rubber stamp the coup.
The Supreme Court has been fairly unpredictable, which is a problem for Trump, but the bigger problem is that they’ve been VERY predictable when it comes to a direct challenge to the Constitution. It’s one thing when it’s an interpretation of the an amendment, it’s another thing when it’s a downright challenge, like Birthright Citizenship.
I doubt the Supreme Court is going to just ignore the 22md Amendment.
Also, they will never allow anything that takes away their own power. Even in their blanket presidential immunity ruling they reserved for themselves the power to decide what counts as an official act.
The constitution is worth less than toilet paper without a Congress and a Supreme Court to uphold it.
It’s actually pretty interesting to watch the downfall of an empire in real time.
It will splash all over everyone. This will affect the whole world :(
It sucks to live in interesting times. It’s an old curse come true.
I’m nearly 40 and it would be nice to have one of those “Once in a generation events” take a year or two off for a moment.
Incredible that it has even been 20 months, and no one is stopping Shitler.
Externally there is no possible way of really stopping him that wouldn’t lead to full on war considering how desperate he seems about declaring martial law. And no matter how pathetic the US is looking right now, they are sadly still the number one military might. (Maybe apart from China, what they lack in tech they definetly have in numbers).
A lot of nations already reduced trade relations, but that at most will lead to internal unrest. Most nations barely humor his antics, but there are also a lot of nations dependant on the US.
Internally the most likely candidates to dispose of him would be the rich and powerful oligarchs, but they are currently raking in trillions of profit for peanuts in bribes. The only two things left are either a military coup (which wasn’t that unlikely just a while ago), or a full on civil war.
But terrifying
Thank GOD the Democrats DIDNT make it Political when they were in Office!
Last time they had difinitive control over the government was 2010 which they used to introduce obamacare. The 50 50 split of congress during last biden wasn’t enough to do anything legally.
You could make a point that it’s obvious that laws don’t exist, and dems should’ve done what cons are doing now illegally, but that’s not dems are, not what their voting base is comfortable with, and there is an argument that it wouldn’t do the country any good anyway.Biden literally put a trump sympathizer in charge of the DOJ
Reminder that when they did have the definitive control of the government that there was Lieberman in the punch bowl that made The ACA be a boon for insurance companies by removing the public option.
Yeah, the perpetual desire to concede in hopes that the right will be reasonable in return proved to be very, demonstrably wrong
May he rot in hell.
I feel so sorry about the continuing decline of the USA political system to an actual autocratic fascist regime
The big difference between Pre-Trump US and Post-Trump US is that white people are being forced to eat the same turd sandwich as everyone else.
The sandwich is getting bigger and the turds stinkier. But more than anything, you’ve got pasty white EMTs and blonde housewives from Minneapolis getting the same treatment as Michael Brown and Rodney King
People should have listened to people of color 100 years ago
Best time was 100 years ago.
Second best time is now.
People should have listened to people of colour 15 years ago.
This is something I don’t think the majority of people in positions of privilege are considering much if at all. For a lot of people in the US (predominantly minorities) the “Trump era” has just been the status quo. It’s pretty much always been like this in one way or another, if only applied more discriminately/subtly.
So it’s pretty annoying to see people acting like this is the abrupt collapse of democracy and liberal ideals in the US, as if it hasn’t already been brewing for centuries.
Im done feeling sorry for Americans fucking this up so bad when the writing was in neon signs flashing in their faces.
Im done feeling sorry for Americans
Horrified to discover we will no longer be receiving your Thoughts and Prayers.
Facing a nationalist- fascist threat it must surely be good strategie for the threatened to desolidarize using national identity
Hey it worked during WW
12…3?
I feel so sorry about the continuing decline of the USA political system to an actual autocratic fascist regime
I don’t. 2/3rds of the country wanted this to happen. Let them enjoy the days they voted for.
Somebody explain to me how there’s rampant fraud but also the republicans took the house, senate, presidency, and the Supreme Court. That makes no sense.
The fraud is how they did that. That’s why they know it’s happening.
The fraud is rampant. It’s called gerrymandering, closing polling locations, poll taxes (ID requirements that cost money), propaganda, voter intimidation, etc
Republicans are obsessed with voter fraud because they are the ones doing it and they can’t comprehend that everyone else wouldn’t be too. “I cheat all the time, how come I can never catch the other guys cheating?”
Tbf, the Democrats are gerrymandering too. You’re 100% correct about the rest though
<s> Wow, support Trump much? You’re supposed to vote for any candidate who’s in whichever of the two biggest parties that’s closer to opposing the problem, even if the candidate themself doesn’t even mention the problem.
It’s obvious enough that it should solely dictate your vote, but this good innocent candidate probably never heard of it. </s>
There’s fraud everywhere, brown people are raping white women and eating your pets. Vote for me and I’ll save you.
FUD for votes.
I think it makes perfect sense
It doesn’t need to make sense… we’re far beyond this point. It needs to KEEP THEM IN POWER, this will totally suffice. Since no ones going to hold them accountable (ignoring court rulings is a habit) this should do as fig leaf.
No no no, NO! See, look, right, here goes, when the
Gang Of PaedosAngelic Republicans lose an election it’s because of the SHOCKING RAMPANT FRAUD. OK!!?!!However on the elections the GoodGuys™ win then it’s because of all their diligent and trustworthy behind the scenes hard work they do to ensure no SHOCKING RAMPANT FRAUD is going on.
But…but…but, unfortunately, those pesky tricksy demoncrats are in league with the devil and always find ways to do some SHOCKING RAMPANT FRAUD to sway the honest, free, fair elections that the Pure Innocent
NazisConservatives hold so dearly to their virginal and trustworthy hearts.Do you understand and are in agreement, or do I have to send ICE around to explain it to you personally? (In a free and fair and nonviolent manner, of course)
Because the election fraud benefits the Republicans. These actions are to ensure the frauds continue.
It’s just another distraction. The average person is easily manipulated with emotion. That is why propaganda is so effective and that is why this will also work if it happens.
Americans, where is your outrage??
we’re too tired, poor, sick and shitting ourselves. oh, and convinced the problem is the immigrants or homeless or brown or trans folks.
So 350 million pussies. Got it.
I guess masturbating over your 2nd amendment was just noise this whole time.
349 million pussies! Leave Luigi out of this!
Damn, Luigi is a million people?
that’s been the plan all along; from the ones in washington to the capitalists helping because a shit population helps them, too. we’ll sadly never have an actual revolutionary solution to this shit.
I feel like my outrage fuse broke the first time he was elected.
We’re waiting for the Midterm Election. Once that’s over, and the Dems have taken over Congress on a bloodbath, we’ll release our outrage.
We won’t be electing the same loser weenies we elected last time, who absolutely REFUSED to hold MAGA accountable, and then helped them get back on their feet and steal the election again. The next Dem Congress will be angry, and seeking to punish MAGAs for the corruption and treason.
How I wish what you’re saying will turn out to be true.
Yet, most I’ve seen from U.S. Dems is some fancy dressing for Donnie’s address to Congress, some sad letters by Schumer, and Newsom trolling MAGA on Xitter. If this is all U.S. Dems have after YEARS of possible preparation, this revolution will be little more than a fart in the wind.
Half the problem is that Dem voters give their leaders permission to do nothing. Before they’ve even taken back power, they are are already saying “It doesn’t matter, they never do anything to help us anyway.”
How about telling them: " We’re going to give you another shot, but we’re going to elect warriors this time. You better help them fight, or we’re coming after YOU, too."

Also he’s 0 for 17 on suing states for their voter rolls.
Which is really strange, because the voter rolls are public information in every state of the Union. You can just buy them, and many political action groups do.
Well, it’s not actually about the voter rolls.
Also Trump famously doesn’t pay people.
I don’t know how to switch accounts and fucked up my wife’s entire persona she was building by commenting under her account. Instead of deleting the comments when I realised my mistake, I just switched accounts and left those comments there for her to find when she woke up. I claim to have planned to go back to delete them, but instead I was just gonna completely forget about them.
Why people don’t switch profiles on the operating system level and just let family fuck around with their stuff I’ll never understand.
Art of the Spiel
It only takes one.
